Lancashire Day....today in library

Hello.I have just had the good fortune of stumbling upon a get together in the library celebating Lancs Day.I met Bob Dobson for the first time, after he had give a very imformative and amusing talk regarding Lancs and Accrington in particular.A gentleman called Derek Stanton i think regalled us with his fantastic anecdotes and local songs which were new to me,being in my early 30's.Poems about dialect were read, written by the late Edmund Battersby.I also met our very own Atarah for the first time......I would just like to thank all involved and congratulate you and the library staff for an excellent presentation. Re: Lancashire Day....today in library

Thanks for this. Derek Stanton, a Gobbin if ever there were one, has done a study of a book in the library -'Hyndburn Dialect' by Edmund Battersby. He has turned it into a DVD, copies of which should be available to borrow/view in the library. I am kicking myself now that I did not post to give our readers notification that today is Lancashire day. Next year it is on a saturday and already the Peel Park pub is making plans. This weekend they are having a Lancashire Real Ale Festival.
