Greed, ignorance, or indifference?

The queen asks for more - is this a sign that she has lost her marbles like Maggie Thatcher has? or is it just greed, and indifference to the hardships we 'serfs' are eduring.

COMMENTARY: Never mind low-energy lightbulbs... is it time to sell a palace or two? | Mail Online
"Consider the Queen's circumstances: She has a personal fortune estimated at £320million and the lifelong, rent-free use of two palaces, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, between which she divides her working week.
She also has two further magnificent private homes, Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she spends around eight weeks a year in summer, and tranquil Sandringham in Norfolk, her Christmas and New Year retreat.
Each of these homes maintains year-round staff, whether the royal standard is flying there or not, in order to be ready at a moment's notice for the monarch and her family and friends to drop in. The very thought of mothballing them when not in use, we are told, is 'out of the question'."

Ignorance and indifference, everybody else has to cut back on things when they feel the pinch, so why shouldnt Liz?

At least she keeps her staff in work whether she needs them or not. 'Mothballing' one of her homes when she isn't there would put people out of work.

Re: Greed, ignorance, or indifference?

I don't mind there being a palace to show off to/entertain visiting VIPs. I don't mind there being a titular Head of State to be the figure-head. I don't even mind her wearing a jewelled crown.

What I mind is that she and her entourage bog off to Windsor, more often than not, and that if I go into the castle I have to pay, despite the fact that I'm paying for its upkeep anyway. I mind that each member of her family has such an army of "staff" that they do not even have to put toothpaste on their own brush, and I am paying the staff's wages. I mind that I pay for the use of aircraft to transport this family around and I mind that not one of them has a useful job or contributes, financially, to their own maintenance.

Need a raise, ma'am? So do several million of your subjects who can't afford their fuel bills.

If it's in the Mail, then it must be true
