Re: The World Will Not End Tomorrow
It doesn't cost much at all. It costs taxpayers 50 pence per year. That is a minuscule price to pay for (a) moving towards solving the biggest mysteries of the universe and (b) pushing the realms of technology on the way.
The communication tool you all are using right now, the world wide web, was invented because of this machine's ancestor.

The 50p per year quote is from Dr Simon Singh who was on BBC News commentating on the events.
He also worked at CERN.
You've got to remember that the 5 billion pounds is spread over 20+ countries, over 10+ years. The whole kaboodle isn't being paid be the UK.

Apparently, all this stuff on the French/Swiss border is gonna have an annual leccy bill of 14 million quid. That's almost as much as my missus' hair straighteners!

You'd think that with that sort of money to spend on the project, they'd have bought more webcams

Re: The World Will Not End Tomorrow
So if they recreate a black hole(& i personally hope they dont)who or what created the black hole & all these shenanigans in the first place.Who put space there, what was there before space?A waste of money, eggheads with super egos who have'nt thought this through to the ultimate conclusion. And i don't recall being asked if these boffins could experiment (and doomsday senario)suck us all into oblivion.Like millions of others i did'nt even know this experiment was going to happen until a couple of weeks back No time to protest,no government statement etc,etc...Is there another secret agenda to get all top knobs & scientists off the planet to,say, Mars(a la Noahs Ark),if it goes pear shaped After all they seem to be forever sending probes there, have they found something to sustain life that us mere serfs are'nt in on .Extreme X Files senario.
