Post LOCAL POP GROUPS

Anyone got any photos of local lads who made their name. I have quite a few of Pete Hibbert and his bands.  Remember him? What a brilliant voice he had

Post Re: LOCAL POP GROUPS

It is Billy Fury.  When I sent the photo, I couldn't find my notes. The photograph was taken at Barnoldswick Majestic in 1962.  This is when Peter was with Mark Day and the Knights (lifespan 1957-1963)
Pete gave me loads on info about his group history, I just knew it would come in handy one day!

Re: LOCAL POP GROUPS

Not surprised that you haven't heard of Accrington Stanley(the band that is).The band comprised 4 local lads,David Foster and Rod Hill(ex Warriors),Dave Walmsley, and Jim Payne(ex Scorchers,Gideon's Ways,Francis T Constuction,Atlantics, and a few more)The band was really formed in London, and,as far as I can remember we never played in Accy.

Re: LOCAL POP GROUPS

Atarah. Yes I remember Jim Payne, Used to go to watch them practice, when he was in the scorchers, upstairs in Dave Ayrtons house, in Clayton, Dave was there manager- roadee. Got a photo of them up the Arks. Some really good groups around then and some really great characters, remember seeing Long John Baldry, Kiki Dee, Julie Driscol, Alexis Korner, down the Cavern club in Accy, the club didnt last long, can anybody remember who owned it?. what was the street it was in?. Saw the scorchers down the Cavern in Liverpool at a Sat lunchtine session.
