Re: St Andrews school photo..1916

This may also be St Andrews school although probably an earlier photo than the previous one....maybe very early 1900 ish. Dont know if the school is recognizeable from the little bit that can be seen.

I probably have a relative in the pic but not sure who?

Anyone know when St Andrews was built?

Phil

Re: St Andrews school photo..1916

I urge those with these pics to email them to the library, or give them a copy, along with details written on thew back, preferably in pencil. It is liklely that the library will be able to come up with the school's details

Phil didn't you say your mum was born in 1912... if this is 1916 she would only have been 4 but she and the others look a lot older than that.

Your mum is instantly recognisable from the pics you have posted of her as a young woman!

We were dressed as miniature grown ups - remember

'Kiddy clothes' were devised later.

Yes I'm not talking about the clothes, I just thought the children looked too big for four, older and somehow more mature than today's four year olds. I would have said seven or eight.

You could be right...I guessed at four but she could be a little older, maybe 6 perhaps...war would have just finished 1918.....maybe..

Babies used to be 4

So would that be the second class for the infants which i thought would start at about 5 to 7

Juniors started about 7 to 10

Seniors 11 to 14
