I was informed privately of a member's age, and also other issues, which gave me a little more understanding about their sometimes obsessive interest in certain things.
As Marg P. said earlier, when someone new joins, who does turn out to be an internet troll, someone who knowingly writes inflammatory posts, purely to gain attention, the best thing to do is to try not to respond.
Trolls are tiresome, and we've seen many come and go on here over the years.
They rarely seem to have much staying power. Bless 'em.
If a new member plays the fool, I'll happily help them achieve this.
One of my own favourites was the photographer who said his civil liberties were under attack, when he was questioned by the police in Accy.
I found evidence he was actually a member of various Irish para-military organisations, whose stated aim was to create conflict with our police forces.
He came on here threatening to sue.
He didn't.
Unsuprisingly, when faced with all the evidence.
The forum has rules, and it's always wise to keep them in mind when posting.
That way you can sail close to the wind, but you never get banned.
Well I haven't...so far.
