In St James Park there is a flock of those Bar-headed Geese they are always in the water - as are all the other geese. Perhaps you are used to farm geese which don't go in the water, but geese do as a rule take to the water.
There were 4 Pelicans in St James Park - 1 died recently leaving 3. One was found injured down on the coast and was rescued and released in the park.

Yes they've still got the little duck houses in the lake - took a couple of pics but they're not worth posting. Didn't see any ducks but they may have been hiding in a different part of the lake - we didn't go all the way round.
Guess you're right about the geese - on farms there isn't usually any water for them but don't even remember seeing many Canadas in the water - they are the ones normally seen about in parks etc.
