Not sure about the new bandstand - compare to the 2 photos I've attached -one is a colour postcard of the bandstand as it was in about 1904 and the other shows people at a concert there -Kingston Mill band, June 24th 1899! |
I was told the original bandstand originally stood adjacent to the town hall and was moved to the park. The replacement is in the same style as the old one. When the mansion was occupied by the office staff, the superintendent, and the workforce, we referred to the rooms by the names they were given when it was a museum previously. An example was we used to store stuff such as cold frames in the "butterfly Room". The section that was demolished housed the workforce and mechanics shop.
