Goal or What

It's a funny world isn't it? Imagine for a minute that Paul Robinson, having dropped a ball over his goal-line at Old Trafford, claws the ball back out and appeals for a goal are waved away by the referee. Imagine the reaction from the likes of Ferguson and Roy Keane. Anger? You bet. Disbelief? Sure. There'd be a national enquiry into the incident and in due course United, I'm sure, would be awarded all three points and the linesman who got it wrong would make a public apology.
But we all know what really happened. It was Roy Carroll, you know, the United keeper. And do you think Ferguson could lower himself to speak about the incident? No. In classic Ferguson style, he claims United were unjustly denied a penalty.
One thing I have not seen commented on yet after last night's Tottenham goal - for that is what it was - is that Carroll must have been aware that the ball had crossed the line, even if the officials were not.
Everyone is rightly offended when a forward 'simulates' a foul in the penalty area and fraudulently earns a penalty from which a side scores - there have even been calls for penalising teams and players after games when this happens - so why is it OK for a goalkeeper to pretend to save a goal when he knows he hasn't?
