Re: cockburns holker farm 1880s

Nearer Holker House was farmed by the Cockburn family until probably the late 1960s early 1970s when it was bought by the R.S.P.C.A It is still the R.S.P.C.A. animal shelter today.

Further Holker House was farmed by an eccentric old chap known locally as "Tommy Two Gun", he acquired the name from the tale he used to tell of when he was in the U.S.A. in the days of prohibition, when he was a member of one of the illicit beer supplying mobs.

He used to regale us youngsters with many a tale of life in the U.S.Yours Taddy.
