No, maypole was at the corner of Abbey street and Peel St.
I think the shop you are thinking of was Redmans.
The Maypole supermarket was housed in a building that had been Ali tyres place.....and the films changed twice a week.
I used to walk past it to school every day.....and I sed to stand and look at stills clips of the film stars.
Seems a million years ago now.
