At the time Rob was first accused, I went onto the FA website to see if I could see the read the regulations. They were easily accessible and unambiguous. The least you should expect of anyone in a senior leadership capacity of any organisation, let alone a CEO is to understand the rules and regulations that govern their particular area of business or interest.
That he ultimately wants what's best for the club and works towards that is not in doubt. And I am in full agreement that the CEO role at our club is a difficult, hands-on role, given the financial constraints and is definitely not full of glamour.
My point is I doubted Rob's genuine ability in the role first time round. Betting (and it wasn't just one or two bets) when it's so clearly against FA rules is one thing, betting that our team would lose is something else entirely again - at best I find this distasteful. This is simply not the conduct I expect or want from someone who's running my club on a day to day basis. I would never but against my team and can't understand people who would do that.
People do change and many of us learn from our mistakes. I feel Rob had a perfect opportunity in his words yesterday to say how he'd changed, what he'd learned and what he'll do differently this time. He didn't take that opportunity which says to me, no matter how well intentioned he is, and he is, in my opinion, he lacks the judgement and leadership skills to lead the club on a day to day basis.
