Can some one out there please help clarify the use of the trenches on the coppice please.
The reason I ask is when I was younger I was led to believe that they were dug out to
stop enemy aircraft from landing on the coppice,also a well known Accrington historian
told me the same story.
Looking at the trenches they are not all that deep,and why do they run east to west.and
north to south.
So as anyone any one out there any firm evidence to say the Accrington pals constructed
and used them ..
