A visit to Queen street mill Burnley is always worth a visit and unfortunately LCC decided to withdraw funding. Hopefully our heritage wont be lost if a new sponsor can be found. last time it will be open to visitors in the foreseeable future is this Saturday, 1/10.16
No. 1 The weaving shed is steam powered and has the whole set of line shafts and belts rattling away with a weaving demonstration in the foreground.
No. 2 Winding the cotton warps onto the beam ready for the loom.
No. 3 Old loom.
No. 4 & 5 The boiler which raises steam for the engine.
No. 6 The engine is called Peace.
No. 7 View of the flywheel through the main steam feed.
No. 8 the shaft between the two cylinders, Its a compound engine. You can see the other big red lagged pipe feeding the steam to the rear cylinder.
No. 9 General view of the engine.
No. 10, where all the smoke goes from the boiler.

In 1962 I helped out in the overall of the engine during wakes week shut down and turned the bolts for the big end. I was informed they were replaced many years later.
