Drawmongers Net Small Profit, As Footballers Net Nothing.
A late surge in support for an away win saw 11 of our players on the faithful side of the fence this week
, against 6 who had given the opposition an early lead
and 8 getting indecisively stuck on top
. And of course it was those 8 who profited once more, though none saw a goalless draw as the likely outcome. So 3 points for the indecisive 8, and 6 single bonus points for others who suspected someone would keep a clean sheet.
The result was a bit of fiddling about in the Top Ten, though with no evictions on this occasion
. 5 of the 10 went for the draw, with Outback Ozzy the first exception, staying 2nd but dropping back to be 4 adrift of Monkey Hanger at the top, and only 2 clear of Accybeme in 3rd. Valairian's 3 points maintained him in 4th, but Stanley Josh and Nige B failed to trouble the scorer (or the email server in Nige's case
) and fell behind Revived Red, who climbed to 5th. Smudgie also failed to post, letting Accymad by into 8th, and Stevie R dug out the bonus point necessary to keep him alone in 10th on countback.
The other 3 drawmongers also made progress, Kiwi John from 18th to 16th, me
from 23rd to 21st and Watchdog from 31st to 26=. Of the others with a single point, only Accytom18 made a move, slipping past Ossy Kid into 13th.
So, what's next? Ah, it's the romance of the FA Cup
and a home tie against the Alex
. So I'll take a break for a fortnight, and rejoin you after we roll on to the Millers on Saturday week. Another side where you might think an away draw wouldn't be a bad result? A goal would be nice, that's for sure
