Re: Top 40 Charts

Seventies crooner Tony Christie has shocked the pop world by holding on to pole position in both the singles and album charts. The 61-year-old is loving the limelight with a new version of (Is This The Way To) Amarillo and his Definitive Collection holding steady in the top spot.Amarillo, a charity single for Comic Relief which features the vocal talents of comic Peter Kay, stays at number one for the third week running.

The song only reached number 18 in the chart of November 1971 when it was originally released.

Comedian Kay revived the kitsch classic with a rendition at the start of his stand-up act.

A reissue of the 1963 Elvis hit (You're the) Devil in Disguise charted at number two, while Mario's Let Me Love You was shunted down to third place.

Mariah Carey's comeback single It's Like That entered at number four while rival diva Kylie Minogue had to settle for sixth place with her latest offering Giving You Up.

Christie continues to top the album chart, with Basement Jaxx collection The Singles close behind and Language Sex Violence Other by Stereophonics in third place.

Rap star 50 Cent's album The Massacre moves up one place to number four and New Order's much-anticipated Waiting For the Siren's Call entered at number five.
