According to this weeks Accrington Observer our beloved borough has succumbed to some rather alternative spellings of place names. I refer to the story on page 2 about a house fire rescue. The house was in a part of the borough which I have never heard of, namely Osowaldtwistle. On Page 8 in a story about rowdy bus yobs, it seems that Accrington has now been double-barrelled and is now known as Accring-ton. Has the council made these changes and not consulted the people of the borough? Or is it that our esteemed local rag is desperately short of a decent proof reader....
