H453 SMOKEBOX NUMBERPLATE "90291" from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built by North British Locomotive Co in 1944, Works No 25289, WD No 77419. It was loaned to the LNER from new, then to the GWR, recalled by the WD at the end of 1944 and loaned again to the LNER in 1947. It was purchased by BR in 1948 becoming 90291. Its later sheds were Newton Heath and Rose Grove from where it was withdrawn in February 1965. It was cut up three months later at Cashmores, Great Bridge.
