Re: Drums

What on earth can the reason be for wanting banners banned? What problem can they possibly cause for residents?

Drum on a Saturday afternoon can't be all that bad either surely? I can understand it in the evening for houses that are close to the ground. Maybe some of them have lived there since before Stanley had that ground so maybe they didn't move next to a football club. I remember looking at a house on Whalley Road when we were moving and the owner pointing out the proximity of the ground as an asset. He could watch matches from up a tree in his garden!

I remember in the olden days when we lived in Sultan Street and Stanley had the Peel Park ground. The crowds came flooding down the street on a Saturday afternoon after the match ended and there wasn't a hope of trying to get home "against the tide". I remember my Mum used to say "Let's get back before football looses" (That's 'looses' as opposed to 'loses'. lol) but we didn't see living close to the ground as a problem. We were proud of our team and the bigger and noisier the crowds coming down the street the more chuffed we were. My Mum never went to watch but I was taken sometimes even though I was only little.
