I'm not about to get involved in such an emotive subject as this as I will never have my opinion taken seriously. As soon as someone posts "I was/know someone who was, abused as a child, then the rules say that the discussion is over and they win.
The one thing that I will say is that suggesting the same old 'castration' and 'life imprisonment' solutions will not provide a cure to this age old problem. These people are not born evil, they are a product of the society we have created. Either that, or they are mentally unwell and need treatment.
I'm not saying that known sex offenders should just be released back into the community to offend again, but vitually every authority on the subject have said that publically naming and shaming offenders achieves nothing, but more problems.
I am not belittling the traumas and pain that people have, and continue to, go through. However, I think that you are oversimplifying a very complex social problem and hence my original comment.
