60 years ago today:
The first really good New Year since WW2 ended.
Six of us (boys and girls) went to the Nelson Imperial from Burnley by bus -- all Big Band music then (gosh how I did love it) -- "Woodchoppers Ball", "In the mood", "Tuxedo Junction", "American Patrol", etc. -- went up the hill to a Pub in Nelson for pints during intermission -- back to the Imp suitably inebriated -- danced too long and missed the last (very late this night) train to Burnley -- walked home to Burnley (actually up Manchester Rd to Rosehill) -- got home early in the morning completely "knackered" -- slept till noon the next day -- what glorious times!
