Perhaps a slightly different take on No 3 ( ignoring the scouse bit) is that JC (As far as I know) didn't play league football. That could be a disadvantage because as in most walks of life it's not what you know but who you know.

There aren't many succesful managers around who played football at non-league level ( Sven is the only one that springs to mind lol )

Could it be that Cooky had a lot of good contacts in the game ?

I have no doubt JC's management skills are excellent but perhaps he needs a bit more help backstage in finding the right players.
