Hello.
I can explian the photo of the train in the wrong platform, as my dad (DH Dyson) took the photo. Firstly it's a breakdown train, not a goods train. It reversed wrong line from the loco shed to take water in the station. Water was taken from under the footbridge, as watering facilities were attached under the footbridge on lines towards Colne. If you look at the tender you can see this happening. The breakdown train then set off towards Blackburn, crossing over to the correct line after it left the station.

Accrington station did have a turntable, but it was removed when the shed was demolished and a new one built next to Lonsdale Street.
