Why not? The updates to Java aren't like Windows updates, there is no security aspect to them. The language is constantly evolving and thats why it gets updated. Its perfectly safe to roll back. You can even have multiple versions installed( I have to have 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 1nd 1.6 installed at work in order to do my job. As long as you tell your browser which to use you can make it use an older version. If your using firefox, type "about
:config" in teh address bar and it spews its config out. Search for java and look for where it specifies teh path. Its probably set to default $PATH or something like that. Change it to where you have installed the old version e.g. c:\Program Files\Java 1.4.2_015\bin ( the \bin is important) and it should work fine.
