OK.....I'm not aware of the location any cattle market in Accrington (although I'm sure there must have been a livestock market of some sorts, even informal). However, there wwas a slaughterhouse in the town and this was located on Hyndburn Road close to where the railway viaduct is. The slaughterhouse closed about 15 years ago - there is now a MacDonalds on the site.

As regards Hyndburn, there are & have been relatively few residential buildings along the road. There were a small number of cottages, however, on the opposite side of Hynburn Road, just prior to the slaughterhouse....it's possible your ancestor lived in one of these. If you look under Accy Photos and scroll back a few months you'll find one of Atarah's excellent postings with picture which refers to a murder in these cottages on Hyndburn Road - about 1905!
