Re: Power cut in Ossy

Hurrah!!!!

Light!

My friends in Gran Canaria called my mobile, my landline being down, and I told them we were having another power cut, the second since the earthquake. They killed themselves laughing, as they think the U.K. is now like Beirut. Come to think of it....

I was just playing the quiz, when total blackness descended. Luckily I managed to find my lighter, and then a candle, before making sure the lady next door was ok, and giving her a candle too.

I tried to find a battery radio I have, but gave up looking when wax was poured in my underwear drawer. So, unable to even read much by candlelight, I lay on the sofa, covered in a blanket, and remembered the power cuts of the seventies, when our house was the only one in Ossy with lights, and a portable television, thanks to the generator powered by a massive windmill my dad built on top of the garage.

Thanks to Neil for phoning to see if I was ok, and if I needed anything, and for happily informing me his house was ok.

Oh well, at least the house smells wonderfully of lavender and vanilla.

Damn, the lights are flickering, I'd better post this quick.
