Re: Pram Race to be scrapped

I for one am greatly disappointed and deeply saddened. I’ve been attending theses events for quite a while now and have enjoyed every one of them and so have many others. The atmosphere through out the day has been tremendous. Everyone from mums and dads with kids to grandma’s and granddad’s attended these events.

I have to agree that there has been some silliness in the past by the way of young teenagers throwing water balloons discriminately into the crowds and not caring who gets hit (i.e. children in prams etc) but I have to say, I wasn’t aware of any of this weekends agro as I returned home around 9.30 ’having spent my budgeted days spending money’. When I left - the sun was still shining and the atmosphere was still friendly.

Times are hard these days ‘pubs closing left right and centre’ and it’s events like this that help our local pubs etc keep going and I’m sure the extra income on the day would have been welcomed but they cannot compete with cheap selling-out shops.
It would have been nice if the selling-out shops were to have charged pub prices for there beers and then donated the extra profit to the Fire and Rescue Service Benevolent Fund but then, it’s probably not as simple as it sounds, you’ve only to get in your car and nip to asda/ tesco etc.

Anyways, I’ve put some photos of the pram race in the gallery. So if you want to have a see what it was like then do.
