Re: 8 year olds banned
As Secretary of Accrington Girls and Ladies FC Im quite interested in this issue. The situation as previously pointed out is not that a match is not competative but that there are no league tables produced after a fixture has been played. This item was being debated on Talksport last week and as one caller said when a match is being played it's probably irrelevent thinking about the teams league position at the end of the day the kids, parents and coaches are more concerned about winning that match and sadly flashpoints will still occur.
As a club we are looking at introducing a zero tolerance rule so that any parent or official who abuses a referee or Assistant Referee will be requested to leave. prior to the game all spectators will be informed of our wish that football is about the players enjoying it in a safe environment and we hope that all spectators will support the players in a sporting manner and offer encouragement to all players.
It may seem a little idealistic but this has been tried in other clubs and been very successful so much so that referees actually volunteer to referee games and we may be able to nurture some of our own players to become referees
