bbciplayer
great little thing this bbciplayer that the bbc kindly puts on the internet for people to watch shows they may have missed but at the risk of sounding a wee bit cynical is it really a good thing
a couple of years ago the bbc tried pushing the government to bring in an internet license so that basically anyone who has the internet has to pay an internet license fee to the bbc , now my memory is a bit vague on the reasons why it was denied but i think it was due to the bbc not realy providing that many services via the internet to justify them been able to charge an internet license
could this iplayer business be the start of a few stepping stones the bbc needs so that it can go back to the government and say well we do more now via the internet and we need the license as people are watching our shows on the internet because in theory you could do away with your TV license and just watch your shows on the bbc website
if you have a lcd tv or one of these modern TV's you could put a small pc tower next to it and just watch tv via the internet and not need to worry about a tv license as you can own a TV and not pay a license as long as you can show that you have no connections to an Ariel or satellite
I may just be paranoid but i think the bbc will try for this internet license again in the near future
