Re: How do you go about getting milk delivered?
You have local farmers delivering their own milk in Accrington? I live in rural Cheshire and the only dairy farmer I know who sells his own milk is a chap 12 miles away who has a Jersey herd. The 3 local farms, in our village, sell theirs to a large dairy; one delivers milk but it's sourced from the dairy.
It's a far cry from the days when my mother used to leave a jug with a saucer on top on the front doorstep. Our local farmer, Bill Whalley, came round, twice a day, in his horse-drawn float and filled the jug with milk he had prepared on his farm and carried in big churns. Incidentally, the farm was just a little further up Blackburn Rd. (towards Intack) than the big West End Co-op Dairy.
