Have you watched previous series, Garinda?
Why was there no mention that Christmas Day would also be little David's 9th birthday?
Why did David Senior talk about Nana like he'd never met her when surely he would have met her at Dave and Denise's wedding and baby David's christening?
And most obvious of all.........in previous series Dave's dad has always been painted as a work-shy character on various benefits with a catalogue of ailments. This special was the first time we have actually seen him and he did not live up to the image previously painted at all.
I'll have to stop now....I'm choking up here....they ruined it all.....sob sob.

Yes, I have watched it from the beginning.
I agree, it wasn't up to the same standard as earlier series, but it still made me laugh, and was better than a lot of new stuff that is broadcast.
Perhaps you didn't like it because it was the first time we's been outside of the Royle's living room and kitchen?
As for Davy Babid's (hic) birthday, they'd probably forgotten about it. After all they didn't mind not seeing him opening his presents, as Anthony was going to send his doting parents a photo with his mobile phone.
No, it wasn't perfect, and perhaps it should have been left well alone, but it still had me laughing out loud more than anything else on the telly this Christmas.
The excruciating social nuances of the modern family were still very well observed, both by the writers, and the cast.
