Re: My new toy!
It is true that a Track day is required for a powerful car to fully open up. You cant do 155mph + on any road safely.
BUT any car is only as fast as the person driving it. Top end cars tend to have top end brakes, with the second hand car market its a bit hit and miss as cheaper parts are often used and this affects the way a car handles.
You can drive an BMW M3 as fast as a Saxo, 70mph is 70mph no matter what your sat in.
I think an extended licence should be required for any car over 300bhp, but only so the driver knows what dangers can occur with loss of traction and yes this applies to quattro Audi's.
Ive driven powerful cars all my life and never killed anyone, my brakes have saved my life and that of others far more than the ability to 'speed'.
I just think a Metro is just as dangerous as a Porsche, its down to the driver and this is where the goverment should enforce sensible laws.
No one should be able to jump out of a 'normal car' and then jump into a sports car. Where all great drivers and legends in our own heads but i think we would all agree, additional training to make the roads a safer place would be a good idea no matter what your age or past driving history is.
Unless ive missed understood the law, this is how a Bike licence works???
