Re: My new toy!
Bike licenses work ona number of levels
If you pass on a 125 you can ride up to 33bhp machines for 2 years then you are free to ride whatever.
If you are over 21 you can take Direct Access which is taken on 500cc bike or above and you can ride anything straight away ( insurance costs depending!!!)
I'm all for a 'performance license' but its difficult to set a limit on whats performance car. 150bhp in a 7 type car is hugely quick, 180bhp in a large barge is not so. so do we do it on 0-60? or in real world times a 40-70? I'd also love to see regular retests(5 years or so) to ensure that people can't fall into bad habits. I'd also agree that more training would be a very good thing and would be happy to partake.
i'd argue something in your 70 is 70 comment,
emergency stopping from 70 in a saxo or in a 'fast' car will be a hugely different result so is 70 teh same irrespective of what you are in? from a safety perspective I'd say not. I'd also much rather be in my HUGE A8 than a saxo if I was going to hit something at 70.....
