Re: My new toy!
A performance car will as a general rule always stop before a 'normal' car, but somthing like your Audi is a massive moving mass to stop and as such do tend to have over sized brakes which makes them so easy to drive. My Audi can go from 70mph to 0mph so quickly you actually feel sick and i like brakes like that but they can allow you to drive much more quickly than is safe. Such as leaving a motorway etc.
70 mile is 70 mile when you hit someone, but i do agree if your hitting say another car or brick wall then the type of car does make a huge difference!!.
The make / model of car has no reflection on its ability to keep the driver safe in a crash.
The BMW Mini has an Ncap rating of 5 Star where as the Audi A6 only had a 3 star rating until 2004.
A Huge Ford Ranger 2008 has a low rating of 2 stars and thats a huge vehicle that people think there kids are safe in.
Executive cars are not always the safer option, brake pedals can rip your foot apart if they do not collapse and the same goes for the steering wheel this applies to any car which does not carry a high Ncap rating.
I sold my Mercedes C Coupe when i found it had a 3 star Ncap rating and thats a £35000 car!.
The new generation of Corsa, Focus, Fiesta are very good safe cars and put the past to shame with there features, price, Carbon Foot Print and Ncap ratings.
