I too put myself and my family before strangers, but in saying that I try not to offend family, friends, strangers or even people that I don't care for, with ill thought out remarks and comments. If you are going to put something as joke you could try making it a bit more obvious that it actually IS A JOKE, instead of waiting for the barrage of remarks from your fellow accywebbers.
Again I have to agree with you, I have heard much more offensive jokes on television... but then they are generally coming from a comedian.... Are you now saying you are a dab hand at comedy too!!! What an extensive CV you have..........
