I'm not sure of the exact rules on loan deals, but I'm fairly sure that each team is only allowed a certain amount of long-term loan deals for young players each season. We already have eight midfield players signed up for 09/10, surely the loan spots would be better filled with defenders, strikers or... a goalie!
