Re: Words or Phrases You Hate
"he's no angel, but..." (my son may have mugged an OAP, burnt down the local school, terrorised the neighbourhood and stolen numerous cars, but he hasn't actually murdered anybody).
"but hey! that's alright..." (don't even understand what that one means, but it's usually total prats who use it).
"don't you think you've had enough?" (if I did, I wouldn't be at the sodding bar asking for another pint, would I?).
"non-judgemental" (a favourite of those who don't have the guts to condemn bad behaviour).
"I'm not being funny, but..." (get ready, I'm going to say something insulting to you).
"we will be setting up a working party to investigate the problem" (we're going to spend more of your hard-earned taxes on paying people who like the sound of their own voices).
"despite the rising cost of raw materials, we have pegged our price levels for the last three years" (woo-hoo, sucker, we're going to hit you with a whopping price rise!).
"never mind, it's only a game" (if you're not a football fan, you will never understand how despair-inducing that particular phrase is, as you sit there, head in hands, contemplating the prospect of a ruined weekend!).
