My brother gave me the 30th anniversary box set for Christmas.
Was twelve when it was broadcast in 1977, and could still remember it all, nearly word for word.
It's still one of America's highest rated programmes, at over 100 million viewers tuning in to see the last episode of the original series.
Truly groundbreaking television, with an impact far beyond the box.
Even in 1977, the idea of a black President would have been unrealistic.

Alex Haley was accused of eleborating the truth, but most of the book was proved to be acurate, and it changed the way Afro-Amercians were seen, by themselves, and others, for ever.
