I read that Chris Packham said something to the effect, "we should let endangered species like the Panda die out naturally rather than spending loads of money on them when they'll die out anyway!" This was an article in one of the tabloids.
I've heard that white bread is bad for water birds innards, brown bread is better as it's got more roughage. Another problem is people tend to throw the bread in regardless whether the birds eat it or not and this causes pollution to the water and attracts rats.
But you rarely see a dead duck or any other water birds in the park - white bread just causes them a lingering belly ache and bowel problems ...
So only wholemeal Kingsmill in the future and no mouldy old dough
