Re: Barrow Friendly

I have to own up to an over exuberant post and getting carried away with the occasion a bit regarding Stevenage. I often look at things I've done and think what a pillock I've been. That hindsight stuff is a marvelous thing. Anyhow, I can see the angle where by it seems quite impressive to have the smoke billowing around the away support particularly in today's sterile atmosphere but when I think back more lucidly where I was at Stevenage there were two old dolls who were quite distressed by the smoke and had to move out to by the snack bar area as the smoke was choking them. Being a half cut pillock I just thought of it as a consequence but if it were your mother, grandma etc am sure you would not be best pleased. I weren't at Barrow but smoke has a habit of going places were you don't want it to go (as the Last Tommy would attest to). I quite like the idea of smoke and flares enhancing the occasion but am not so sure I am keen on the idea of my granny being gassed. No problem with creating an atmosphere and I would have been all for the smoke but a lot of people around have respiratory problems these days (asthma sufferers etc) and it ain't fun for them to have their lungs streesed out unnecessarily.
