I used to think it odd that a girl I knew, from the wilds of Yorkshire, called what we'd say was a funfair, a 'feast'.
Until I realised that fairs would have been held on feast day, in days gone by.
Even if they didn't have waltzers, and dodgem cars.
Quite sweet, it's still in usage.
