What is the Capital of the World?
Just read an interesting article written by John Parker about this very question. (In a spin-off magazine To the Economist with the rather pretentious title of "Intelligent Life" lol ! Why do I read this magazine you might ask....)
Over time it has been Rome, Constantinople, London and New York. On a scale of 1 to 5, Parker rates each of the following cities on: Power and Influence, Income and Wealth, Education, Global Connections and Culture.
The cities he considers are Beijing, Dehli, London, Mexico City, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Washington.
I think there are others he could have considered such as Buenos Aires, Berlin, Paris, Moscow and Rio.
My vote goes to London , I only score it down a bit for Power and influence in the light of the economic crisis, but for you what is the Capital of the World?
