Much to my suprise, I genuinely found her to be good company. She was interested in what I had to say, she was intelligent, and had a very dry sense of humour. Still hate her politics mind, but I did warm to her as a person. Though with hindsight, you do have to admire her dog's dangly bits, compared to today's weak as dishwater political leaders, especially when dealing with our E.U. 'brothers'.
Odd, when your perceptions are challenged.
Always thought Enoch Powell would be a monster, and he was a quiet, kind, gent. Whereas someone I admired growing up, David Bowie turned out to be a supercilious, vacuous, snob.

Would love to have had that opportunity myself -even though she was Public enemy No 1 for me when younger. She has won her place in history whether you agreed with her or not.
Surprising how the public persona can be so different to the real person.
Bowie i have always loved as a performer - he has a kind of magnetism -caught a glimpse of what you say when he was interviewed on Italian TV last year - the inteviewer didn't get it luckily and the translation covered it up but to me he came over just as you say...shame to bust a myth.
I have this sort of fantasy where i imagine such a dinner party -perhaps 8 or 12 people - i have quite a list I would invite! Could make a thread about it sometime...if it's not too boring an idea!
