Well I was only there for a year, at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. It did once help me win a pub quiz in Cornwall where the tiebreak question was which US university's football team is called the Tarheels? Answer, UNC Chapel Hill!
Found out recently that my housemate while I was there went on to marry Senator John Edwards who was running for president a few years ago till she developed cancer and he puuled out. She died last year and cut him out of her will because he had an affair.
Can't say that my US sojourn helps much with the quiz - still find the US mindset hard to fathom.
