Just listening to Dan Jewel saying they’ve tracked down a Stanley fan who was at Anfield in 1956 who lives in…..Canada.
Assuming they’d like to interview that person, and it’s not your mum, Accymad, i wonder if a BBC researcher is trying to scam a trip abroad.

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3

In the league clubs get just less than half of the Anfield Rd End with minimum segregation i guess to a certain extent they could move the netting one way or the other to arrive at a figure that will be right for both clubs.

I went there with Carlisle before the re development and we had all of the lower tier which was just over 7.5k

But and i stand to be corrected here if it doesnt apply in the FA cup but Liverpool have a couple of things in place that ensures their cup games are virtual sell outs [ for people on the season ticket waiting list buying cup tickets moves you up the list and i.m pretty sure for season ticket holders unless you contact them to say otherwise your cup ticket is simply added to your ticket account and charged for]

I would be pretty sure Stanley will get a figure that they will have a chance of selling out but one that will generate interest in the games up till then to be sure of getting a ticket.

Let's hope we do a bit better than we did in 1956 AccyMad. WOW what a story......any chance she could travel this time? If Liverpool new the story you might get "Royal Treatment" on the day......but maybe you'd prefer to be with the rest of us on the terraces.....

Unfortunately Mum wouldn't be able to go this time, she's 90 years old now & not in very good health - it's a shame as she'd love to but can't even get to our home games now but I know she'll be listening to the radio & she'll look forward to.hearing all about it when I get back

There was a paper produced in Accrington in the 50s called Welfare. I suspect it was produced collectively by the main trade unions in the town. It contained some sports pages at the back, and the match report for the Liverpool FA Cup tie saw it as a missed opportunity for Stanley. The Reds were flying high in the Third Division (North) and Liverpool were mid-table in the Second Division. Somewhat different context this time!

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3

This draw brings memories from 1956 when Accrington lost 2 – 0 to Liverpool in the FA. Cup.
As a 13-year-old boy I drove with my dad in the car to Liverpool. The funny part was that there was heavy fog all the way up to a couple of miles before Liverpool. Most of the time my dad was saying “with this fog the match will never go on,” but I was saying “come on dad, it my lift just further on.” Sure enough it did lift, so we got to the match on time, only to see Stanley losing the game by 2 goals in quick succession from the great Billy Liddell.
After the match, we heard however, that one coach from Accrington went to the wrong stadium! As Everton was playing the same day and same time, the supporters went to see the wrong match!
Anyone else with memories of this day?
Cheers

Could be a clash this time but doubt it as clubs use the same parking etc so one will be on a different day and 12.30pm Sat looks fave for us.

With the grounds so close it wouldn't have been a problem though.

The game is at 12.15 on Saturday 11th January. It's in ITV which is great for those unable to travel. Ticket details to be announced soon.
