Re: Shrove Tuesday
When I was a hard up newly wed in the early 60s I had a pancake day every Wednesday, because all there was left to eat was eggs, flour, and milk

Re: Shrove Tuesday
Seeing this thread I thought I'd get in the spirit and have a go at pancakes, nipped down to Tesco and got some pancake batter mix (very cheap).
the thing is that the instructions on the pack seem strange :
in a jug beat together 1 egg and 200ml of cold water.
add sachet contents and whisk until smooth.
heat a little oil in 12 small tins.
add batter and cook in a pre-heated oven at 200*C gas mark 6 for 20-30 mins.
not sure but just dosen't seems right
