There's a fantastic playground five minutes away.

A well run youth club, also five minutes walk from the site.

There's also the Civic arts centre, with tons of activities for young people, within spitting distance.

There has never been as many things for youths to do in the town.

Ya I agree G there's plenty for young people to do in Ossy yet as one member has illustrated by his inane rantings, some people are not satisfied;)

I disagree about there being sufficient places for kids to go in Ossy and the rest of Hyndburn in General.

Kids are territorial and need things in there own area. Ossy alone could do with at least 3 more youth shelters. Then start looking at Hyndburn as a whole and we are very lacking in facilities.

Compared with other areas Hyndburn doesn't do too bad as far as youth facility provision is concerned Neil, Mind you there are people who have put years into helping youngsters, a prime example is Brian Walmsley who was involved with working for young people long before he ever became a councillor and is still doing his bit today even now he's the wrong side of 70

Sometimes we mollycoddle our young, and it leaves them lacking in initiative. As they expect everything given to them on a plate.

As stated earlier, young people have never had so many, easy accesible facilities.

As for 'youth shelters', in my day we built our own, and called them dens.

The MUGA in Rhyddings we built is very popular and the age range using it changes between end of school time and late evening. It's like they use it in shifts.

When Peel House was closed LCC said they would use the money from selling the homes they closed to help the old people that used to be in homes.

This was the reason given by our previous LCC Councillor as to why LCC could not give or sell cheap the land to HBC who wanted to make it into a car park

Hasn't Global gone Neil?.

Ya exactly, in those days you had to make your own entertainment, which we used to do without making it an inconvenience to the public, like vandalising parks etc. but we didn't have a nanny state in those days where most people have come to expect things doing for them as the norm, more so kids

It's now reopened as a 'real' pub.

Thankfully.
