The shop on the other corner (Buy-the-House) was Reeder's fruit & veg shop for forty years, so that's good news if it's true.

The last one I remember in Ossy was Judith's Fruit and Veg on Union Road the shop was just above the library, she even delivered. I actually knew Judith quite well and she decided to quite a few years ago because it wasn't really worth the hassle, up every morning about 4am to go to the market and its one of those businesses that you have to get your ordering spot on or your well out of pocket with wastage (there's no sale or return in that game) and the fact is the small shop just can't compete with the big super stores, its just a fact of modern day living

I moved back to Ossy less than a year ago. Did the fruit n veg shop at end of Roe Greave ever happen? If so was it where Buy the House is (formerly Reeders) or where one of the Miller Insurance offices is? I would love to see a proper fruit n veg shop in Ossy, as I have to go to Accy market.

Going back in time, am I right that there used to be Catlow's fruit and veg shop where Age Concern is now?

What was the fruit and veg shop called that was where the laundrette is now (opposite Royal Spice) I think it was where the laundrette was but might have been next door.

You've got me, Cashman. Where is Swinton's Insurance?

There definitely was a fruit n veg shop on Union Road around the corner from the Irish League, maybe where Age Concern is. I went there for 5lb of King Edwards and later (to prove how strong I was) for 10lb of spuds every week for my mum. There was also a fruit n veg shop where Betfred or the laundrette is, opposite a chip shop and Derek Wynn's hairdressers (but I'm not sure which exact shops they were either). 1950s.

In the 1940s there was a fruit, veg and fish shop on the corner opposite the new Tesco near Tinker brook.

I was at junior school with Jack Duckworth whose mum owned it. He always stank of fish - a shame really - he was a bonny lad with short dark curly hair.

There was another such shop at the bottom of Fielding Lane which is now a house (not the one featured on TV recently)

There were quite a few in those days Margaret, Macandrews (Brian who's mum owned the shop was a mate of Eric in Canada) near the town hall, another just bellow the post offices as was in those days (can't think of the name, then there was Nellie Barns, right opposite St Paul's school, next door to Mrs riley's herbalist, the good old days

On the 'curving' corner was a grocers, and next to it was a bakers.
On the corner opposite the takeaway was fish fruit and veg, and a red telephone box.
The takeaway was a hardware store - pans, tools, paraffin etc.

Talking of Tom Reeder saw both of his daughters when I was down town last wednesday, haven't seen them for years, sadly didn't get the chance to have a word
