What a thing to happen as you're walking along the pavement to school....what a shock!

It just shows that when you get up in the morning you never know what's going to happen that day, doesn't it? :(

Hope the lad recovers quickly, was he on the little path on the left as you walk toward Oswaldtwisle? Never liked that side of the road myself, used to cross over to the opposite pavement.

There was a picture in the Telegraph today - seems that the car looked as though it went out of control.

Think the guy was arrested for driving without due care, which is scant relief for the poor lad

I walk on that path everyday & sometimes any large vehicles that fly past miss me within inches. Also the amount of pigeon droppings under the bridge sometimes makes it very slippy under foot.My view is some kind of crash barrier should be erected where the path narrows & under the bridge should be cleaned weekly(or better, kill the bloody pigeons).I know non of these were a factor in the poor lads accident, but it could help prevent any further ones from happening.

After seeing the picture in the Obby, can't help but wonder what happened. The driver has apparently been released with out charge. Although originally held on suspicion of dangerous driving.

How on earth did the car end up on that pathway!

As for the comments about possible photos of the incident doing the rounds via mobile phones...if that's the case...just sick. :(

Its a shame there are no CCTV cameras there. I would have liked to have seen how he managed to do that without driving like an idiot.

When I lived in Higham next to the Padiham to Barrowford Rd, there was an accident right next to my house, where a Hillman Imp clipped the kerb and turned over landing on its roof on the grass verge.

I was the one who dialled 999 - some of the occupants were crushed to death as the car chassis descended on them.

Hillman Imps were notorious for being lightweight with a body made from aluminium. It didn't take much to flip it over. No other car or persons were involved and only 1 other car was on the road at the time and they had already passed each other before the Hillman flipped over.

Any car is easily flipped over Margaret if caught in certain areas of the car.

Read that the operations on this young lad's broken bones have been successful, and that he should make a good recovery.

Will be sometime though methinks before he is back at school reading about the injuries ... chin up lad .. people here wish you full recovery and love to his Mum. x Like Panther has said, you do tend to think .. gosh, that could have been my lad, and you put yourself in her position.
