Foxhill bank nature reserve should be made into a giant kids play area. When i was a kid there was always rope swings to play on trees to climb etc etc

That was my stamping ground 50 years ago, it wasn't a kids play area then, neither does it need to be now

It might not have a kids play area, but plenty of us kids played there.

I had a mate who lived on Spring Terrace.

where was the location of the "Swanee" exactly?:confused: seem to think it was just higher up ossy than Foxhill Bank, but memorys not the best, used to go catching newts at dinner time in the first 2 years at the tech. after that graduated to the "Prince Of Wales.":D

The Swanee was the other side of White Ash playing fields down the hill as it was in those days, between White Ash and Thwaites Road, there was a lodge which was deemed to be very dangerous at the time, think it was the site of an old mill or something

I had a few mates lived on there, Jack Johnson, Alan Turner, Fred Shaw, Patricia Stains, who actually sill lives in the same house today

Billy was Down Syndrome, he lived to Nealy 50, he was a real character, was always with Mal Warden Jackie and Pauline's Uncle, Pauline lives in a house at the far end of Badge Brow, she married Vinnie Whitehead. Some one else I've remembered who live there as well Elaine Carter, lived in the far end house from Alan

I always remember Billy going to the Harry Smiths corner shop in Cross Street ,very well dressed and very well spoken.
Every one knew him and looked out for him

There was an adventure playground somewhere around there wasn't there?? I seem to recall a giant slice with shet metal riveted to a set of sleepers going down a hill...
